In Victorian times, greeting cards were very decorative, rich in texture and in colour. Handmade cards often depicted pictures of angels, birds, or flowers, and were embellished with pressed flowers, lace, beads, buttons, ribbon, and braid.
The angel picture for the first card came from a vintage Victorian angels download pack, which I purchased from Lunagirl.com. This is a wonderful site with thousands of vintage images, collage sheets, and digital ephemera. For anyone who loves vintage imagery and art, this site, and Lunagirl’s blog, lunagirlmoonbeams.com is well worth a visit.
The images on the next two cards were from a small pack of vintage scraps that I bought from Warehouse Stationery. For the embellishments, I used pieces cut from vintage doilies, lace trim, buttons, ribbon, and pressed flowers.
